What's so special about Marfa?

Well, let's see. ART, FOOD, NICE PEOPLE, LOTS TO DO, NOTHING TO DO, Mountains to the North, Chihuahan Desert, Chinati Hot Springs to the South, Big Bend not too far away, ART GALLERIES.  Marfa is quickly becoming the place for a getaway.  Just ask the people you see in town where they are from? New York, Texas, Santa Fe, California, Europe, Alpine, all over the place.

Why do I want a guest house?

Firstly, comfort - Soft high thread count Cotton sheets, hardwood floors, full kitchen, laundry, land, outdoor patio with fire pit, A/C

Secondly, privacy - nuff said.

Thirdly - space - 4 bedrooms, not a cramped hotel room

Fourth - technology - internet, cable, telephone are all available

Is there maid service at the 6o8?

Yes, your stay includes maid service when you leave, or daily is available (if you are really messy, for extra money)

What about food?

There are fabulous restaurants in Marfa (see links page).  There is the Pueblo Market in Marfa which has basic food staples and now The Get Go Grocery is open which has gourmet foods (see links page).  Alpine, Texas is about 25 minutes away and has two large supermarkets as well. You can cook in our kitchen which is stocked with tools and equipment to prepare meals. 

What about liquor?

Wine and beer are available at the Pueblo Market and The Get Go.  Alcohol is at The El Cheapo (aka El Expensivo) Liquor Store, and Alpine has a number of liquor stores.  If you are looking for hard alcohol you will save considerable money if you are flying into Odessa or El Paso and stop for it there.  If you have special requests and are not sure how to get them, email us.

How do I get to Marfa?

You have a number of options.  You can fly to El Paso or Midland, rent a car and drive.  El Paso and Midland airports are serviced by most major carriers. The drive to Marfa is about 190 miles from either airport (El Paso is the larger airport and generally has less expensive rental cars). 

If you have a private plane or small charter, there is a municipal airfield north of Marfa, aptly named Marfa Municipal Airport.  The Marfa Airport is about 15 minutes from the Guest House.  There are rental car companies in Alpine that we've heard will pick you up at the airport.  Visit the links page for the Marfa Municipal Airport.

You can drive - the scenery is pretty incredible and the highways have high speed limits (most are around 80mph)
